New Delhi: On Wednesday, the Road Transport and Highways Ministry formed a five-person expert panel to investigate the structural collapse of the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi. In the next ten days, they will submit a preliminary report on the causes of the collapse and finalise a report in a month। Additionally, the committee will suggest modifications to standard operation procedures in the event of tunnel collapse and safety measures to be implemented during construction within 45 days।
R K Dhiman, additional director general of the Border Road Organisation, will lead the panel approved by Union Road Transport and Highways Secretary Anurag Jain. Two professors and an officer from Indian Railways are members।
As stipulated in the terms of reference, the The project and rescue operation records will be reviewed by an expert team। It will look at the detailed project report and the detailed design reports that the project contractor has provided।
